Disaster Relief
Natural disasters, unfortunately, are a routine part of Earth’s climate. With the events of global warming, the number of natural disasters will increase yearly. While we cannot prevent natural disasters, we can prepare to offer aid to those that are affected by events like hurricanes, and tsunamis.
Various national and international agencies have been established to provide relief to communities affected. In the U.S., the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the agency in charge of disaster relief. When a natural disaster like a hurricane, tsunami, or flooding occurs, FEMA helps rescue trapped civilians, provide food, shelter, and water, and even gives grants or low interest loans to people who had their house or business damaged during the disaster.
